Types of Amazon Seller Fee in India
There are primarily three types of Amazon Seller fee excluding Goods & Service Tax (GST) that you have to pay:
- Amazon Referral Fee
- Fixed Closing Fee
- Shipping Fee (Easy Ship Weight Handling Fee)
Each of these components has been explained below along with the latest fee structure.

#1 Amazon India Seller Referral Fee
A certain amount of fee will be charged by Amazon on every sale you make on its platform. This fee is known as the Referral Fee and it is a predefined percentage of the total sale price and starts at 2%. The percentage varies on the basis of category and it can be as minimum as 2% (for Fine Jewellery -Gold Coins) and as max as 38% (for Warranty Services ).

#3 Amazon Easy Ship Weight Handling Fee in India
Amazon easy ship fee is charged as per the weight of the item. It is calculated on the basis of actual weight or the volumetric weight whichever is maximum.
The volumetric weight of an item is calculated by multiplying the dimensions (in cm) of the package and dividing that by 5000. The resulting volumetric weight will be in grams.
Weights are categorized into three categories for shipping:
- Standard size item
- Heavy and bulky items
Shipping charges are charged also depending upon Local, Regional and National shipment. Refer to the below table for Easy Ship Weight Handling Fees.

After introduction of STEP program, sellers have been classified into different categories and shipping rates vary based on seller category you belong to.
Easy Ship Weight Guidelines
An item is classified as Heavy & Bulky Item if:
- Item belongs to categories such as washing machines, refrigerator, air conditioner, microwave, chimney, dishwashers, television, treadmills, cycles (wheel diameter > 20”), large furniture (e.g. beds, sofa sets, wardrobes etc.), deep freezers, OR
- Max (Length, Width, Height) > 72” or 183 CMs OR
- Weight > 22.5 kg OR
- Girth > 118” or 300 CMs #Girth = [Length + 2*(Width + Height)]
- Multi box items or Items requiring carpenter installation (non DIY)
All other items will be classified as Standard Size.
*As of now, Amazon does not provide Easy Ship Facility at National Level Deliveries for Heavy & Bulky items.

Assuming you are doing Easy Ship, here is how you calculate shipping cost:
If the product is of 5kg. You break the weight as: 500 gm + 500 gm + 4 * (1 kg)
Now, refer the Easy Ship Fee chart above for these weights.
Local: 47 + 13 + 4 * 21 = 144
Similarly calculate for Regional and National.

There is no general rule whether a particular kind of book or product will be profitable on Amazon. It depends on the profit margins. You need to account for the shipping, referral fee and closing fee of Amazon.
For books below INR 250, referral fee is 3%. And closing fee will be INR 4 for easy ship.
So in your case, total fee will be INR 5.8
referral fee = 1.8
closing fee = 4
Shipping Fee depends on the eight and size of package. Lowest being INR 47 for 500 gm package shipped locally.
Unless you charge shipping to your customers, you will be in loss.
If there are multiple books, you can bundle them for a better margin, even after shipping cost.
Also, is it your own book or is it a book of some other author as in that case you need to check how much other’s are selling for.

As of now, Amazon charges a Referral Fee (Commission) of 11% on soft toys.
Apart from this there will be a closing fee of INR 30 if you sell through easy ship or INR 25 if you sell through FBA.
Further, their will be a shipping charge depending on size and weight of the package.
If you sell through FBA, then there are FBA specific fee.

From what I could understand, it is your brand so you can choose to sell it from anywhere. Amazon is just one of the marketplaces where you can list your products to sell. There is no compulsion that you can sell your brand products only from Amazon.

Packaged Meat Products come under Grocery and Gourmet category for which the commission is as follows:
4.0% for item price 1000
You will need FSSAI license to sell grocery products on Amazon.
Also, is it your own brand or you will be selling other brand’s products? In case of other brands, you will require Brand Authorization Letter from those brands to sell their products on Amazon and printed GST invoice for the products you want to sell on Amazon.
In case it is your own brand, you will require brand packaging and Trademark (applied trademark status is also mostly acceptable).
In order to sell on Amazon, you will require following details:
PAN Card
GST
Bank Account
Email Id & Phone Number (that have not been used to register on Amazon before)
All documents should be in the name of same person or entity.
Also, ensure that you have an address proof (any utility bill) in the name of same person or entity for the address you will submit to Amazon while registering your account.
This is the basic requirement.

I believe there is no term as ‘Amazon Central Seller’. One is ‘Amazon Seller’ and other is ‘Amazon Seller Central’.
Amazon Seller is any seller who is registered to sell on Amazon.
Amazon Seller Central is the portal or dashboard of Amazon from where the Sellers operate their Amazon business.

There is no separate category for hand made products. You have to select the category, that your product relates to. For ex: Paintings, vase etc would go under home decor, Rakhi would go in bracelets, cloth items would go under appropriate apparel category…. and so on… The referral fee will also be accordingly!
